General Purpose Solenoid Valves

So far, PFC Automation general service valves mainly has 2 types of function ,2/2 way and 3/2 way, include direct-acting and pilot -acting.

PFC's 2/2-Way solenoid valves have 2 ports, one inlet and one outlet, and are used to permit and shut off fluid flow. The two switching states (operations) are normally closed (NC) and normally open (NO). Two types of constructions apply to 2-way solenoid valves, which are direct acting and piloted.

With Direct acting constructions, the solenoid is energized, the core directly opens the orifice of a Normally Closed valve or closes the orifice in a Normally Open Valve. The valve will operate at pressures from 0 psi to its rated maximum.

Piloted constructions use line pressure to assist operation. When the coil is de-energized (on a Normally Closed Valve), the pilot orifice is closed and line pressure is applied to the top of the piston or diaphragm through the bleed orifice, closing the valve.

PFC’s 3-Way Solenoid Valves have three pipe connections and two orifices. When one orifice is open, the other is closed and vice versa. They are commonly used to alternately apply pressure to an exhaust pressure from a valve actuator or a single acting cylinder. These valves can be normally closed, normally open or universal.

How to select a suitable general purpose solenoid valve?

There is a wide range of selection criteria from orifice size, connection type, voltage, pressure range, operation, design, certification, seal material, and housing material to ensure you have the correct valve for your application.

We have port sizes between 1/8” to 2” to cover the majority of applications, but for applications outside of this we also have you covered.

AC or DC voltage coils are available depending on the electrical wiring available in the application.

View our pressure ranges along with different solenoid valve operation types (direct, semi-direct, or indirect), as this will affect if you need a pressure differential for complete valve opening. If needed, we also have different versions, for example, medium separated, or oil and fat free to meet your application requirements.  The valve’s housing and sealing material will ultimately affect the type of media that can flow through the valve, but it is typically either gases or clean liquids. Please note that the internal parts of the solenoid valve are made of different materials.
